Belgrade surrealism was an autochthon movement
initiated in the early twenties. It became organized movement in 1928 and
lasted till 1932. The Belgrade surrealist group constituted thirteen members
(Marko Ristić, Aleksandar Vučo, Milan Dedinac, Dušan Matić, Đorđe Kostić,
Oskar Davičo, Koča Popović, Đorđe Jovanović, Mladen Dimitrijević, Radojica
Živanović, Vane Bor, Petar Popović and Branko Milovanović). They had close
contacts with French surrealists (e.g. Breton, Eluard, Aragon etc.) who
contributed in their publications. Likewise, texts of Belgrade surrealists
were published in French surrealist publications (e.g. Le Surrealism au
Service de la Revolution).

| written language. The rational for inclusion
was to investigate the idiosyncrasies of surrealist discourse and compare
it to other contemporary texts.
Principles of sampling: The subsample consists of 93 690 words and could be divided into two distinct parts. One part included integral books (e.g. "Bez mere" "Without Measure" by Marko Ristić, "Anatomija" "Anatomy" by Oskar Davičo, "Krov nad prozorom" "Roof above the window" by Aleksandar Vučo etc.). The other part was complied from the surrealist almanac "Nemoguće" ("The Impossible") which included shorter texts of Belgrade surrealists. State of the material: In the late fifties, the frequency dictionaries were compiled from all the books and from each text in the almanac. The original texts with grammatical tagging are no longer available. However, the original texts will be put into an electronic format and will, in addition to frequency dictionaries, constitute part of the corpus.
